I got my law degree from Boalt Hall School of Law, i.e., the law school associated with U.C. Berkeley. As one whose political views fall somewhere between conservative and libertarian, I have always known there was a good chance that sooner or later, Berkeley would do something to embarass the hell out of me. However, I didn’t expect this. What I had in mind was more like this.

Erin O’Connor, however, has followed the Dwyer debacle much more closely than I have. She seems to smell a rat, particularly given the alleged victim’s choice of a lawyer. If Erin is right, then perhaps this particular embarassment is exactly the kind I should have anticipated all along.

UPDATE: Erin has recently updated her piece on the Dwyer/Boalt controversy. She describes the anonymous accusers statements as “moral sniping” and calls for her to be outed.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Debra Saunders of the SF Chronicle has a good op-ed piece on the Boalt debacle. To attorney Laura Stevens’s complaint on Boalt’s sexual harassment policies and procedures, Saunders replies:

Hello. Dwyer is the dean of the law school. It’s not as if a feminist pamphlet that repeats the oft heard “no means no” mantra will enlighten him. If he did what he’s accused of, and we don’t know that he did, it’s not because he didn’t know the law or the Faculty Code of Conduct.

Read the whole thing.
