No One Who Speaks German Would Support a Dictator

Matt Drudge reports that 86% of all Germans support keeping Saddam Hussein in power oppose military strikes against Saddam Hussein. It would be interesting to compare/contrast that figure with the percentage of Germans who opposed allied strikes against Nazi Germany during World War II. Or, if that seems unfair, maybe we could instead wait a few years for things to die down, and then count the number of Germans willing to tell the newly-liberated Iraqis, to their face, that the world would be a better place if the U.S. had allowed Saddam to continue to rule over them.

Then again, Germany and the U.S. are two countries that will probably never see eye-to-eye on a host of issues. Unlike most of my fellow Americans outside of Nevada - and like many Germans - I have no problem with legalized prostitution among consenting adults. But unlike the Germans, I draw the line when those “consenting adults” aren’t human.
