It’s Official: Saddam Has No Weapons of Mass Destruction

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 9:25 pm

Quoth the Guardian:

These first 10 days have disproved two of his core, pre-war arguments: that Saddam has weapons of mass destruction and that his people would instantly see foreign invasion as liberation.

[Emphasis added.]

Apparently, if you ask the Guardian, 10 days of Iraqi non-use of chemical and biological weapons (nevermind the apparent chemical factory, the chemical weapons suits, etc.) has succeeded where Hans Blix failed: it has proven that Saddam has no such things. So if we find them now, we’ll know they were planted. Yeah, right.

As to whether or not the average Iraqi views us as liberators, well, I think we’ll just have to wait until all those Fedayeen are gone. As long as any Iraqi who welcomes our troops gets hanged for it, expect rather, um, muted support, if any. What will the Iraqis say when the coast is clear? Who knows? There’s no point speculating on public opinion in a country where it is a capital offense to hold certain opinions.
