Americans Support Recall
This can’t be good news for those who oppose the recall on principle, or even for those who shrug it off as a California thing. According to this Gallup poll (hat tip: Prestopundit), American adults outside California support the idea of recalling a governor based on poor performance in office by an an even larger margin (75% - 22%) than California adults do (61% - 36%). This despite the fact that only 29% of non-California adults (as compared to 54% in California) indicated that they actually wanted to to recall their governors. By and large, they don’t - they just want to have that tool available in case they ever end up electing a Gray Out of their own.

Waste of money and resources.
I say….let him finish out the term and everyone vote for someone else come election time.

Waste of money or no, that’s a sunk cost now. For better or for worse, the recall election is going to happen, and it won’t be any cheaper, in terms of money or other resources, to retain Davis than it would be to boot him out. If the past few years are any indication, it would be far more expensive to keep him, even if he doesn’t renege on his half-hearted promise not to make taxpayers fund his campaign.
As to voting for someone else in 2006, that’s a given. If Gray Out survives the recall, he’ll be termed out by then anyway. The question is whether the state can really afford to wait that long.
