Candidate Profile: Peter Camejo
Last year, Peter Miguel Camejo, was Bill Simon’s best hope to split the Davis vote. This time, he’s trying to help Schwarzenegger or McClintock win. As an extra plus, he’s trying to steal MEChA-Man’s separatist thunder by reintroducing his Hispanic middle name, which was conspicuously absent from last year’s ballot.
It will come as no surprise that Mr. Green’s agenda consists of knee-jerk liberal positions across the board, most of which have nothing to do with the environment. Here are a few gems:
- Peace Through Weakness. Someone really ought to explain to this poor soul that a state official has no impact on American foreign policy. Allowing him to go on making a fool of himself with calls for the U.N. to disarm the U.S. may be fun, but it’s also cruel.
- Chasing Even More Businesses Away. Rather than do anything to attract businesses back to the state, Camejo would push for “living wage” laws to make doing business in the (Fools’) Golden State even more expensive than it is now.
- Institutionalized Racism. Unlike those namby-pamby “mend it don’t end it” Democrats, Camejo makes no bones of his intent to violate Proposition 209 and discriminate by race. His platform reads, without qualification: “College and university admissions, public employment and state contracting agencies should take race and sex into account when making employment decisions.”
- Freeing Mumia. Well, he didn’t mention Mumia by name, but he did claim that his way of establishing “law and order” is to get rid of Prop. 184 and free the likes of its poster child, Richard Allen Davis. back on the street. I feel safer already.
- Gun Control. No liberal campaign is complete without a series of silly arguments about how violent crimes should be blamed on the easy availability of firearms. Since they won’t hold the criminals responsible, they almost have to blame someone or something. Camejo slyly promises to ban all handguns except revolvers, and to require a license to exercise what little of the Second Amendment would survive his assault on weapons owners. No indication as to whether he would similarly require critics to obtain a license prior to publicly criticizing his ideas.
If you are a progressive who supports any of these ideas, please, please throw your vote away make your vote count, and vote for Peter Camejo.
