Candidate Profile: Gino Martorana
Gino Martorana has a website where we learn that he is only one of two candidates from the Central Valley and his campaign slogan is “Enough is enough”.
Here are his positions in his own words:
I have no ulterior motives besides wanting to do the right thing for the people of California. We seem to have a problem right now I know that could be alleviated with my solid thinking, my extraordinary ability to solve problems, and my ability to motivate people. When others join my efforts to fix and find waste in government, we can save at least 10 to 20 percent of the budget just by eliminating waste.
All unnecessary spending such as grants have to be put to the side until the budget is balanced. At that time, they will be reviewed, and can be reinstated based on their usefulness. Workmen’s comp. needs to be at a national average for day one, governmental red tape will be eliminated if it has nothing to do with the environment. Business people need to be held in higher esteem in the eyes of government. Not just as a cash cow, and with no regard for the business persons’ needs.
I respect the unions of all state employees, but they also have to respect the needs of all residents of the state of California and the situation we are all in. This will be done by cuts or by layoffs, or by being more efficient. The choice will be with the rank and file, and an immediate 10% across the board cut in all state spending. These cuts will affect everyone and everything including anyone that draws a check from the state of California. This is the only way to turn this major problem around right away. All contracts with energy matters will become null and void, even if it means that we have to go into a chapter 11 bankruptcy. I realize that these are drastic measures, but these are also drastic times. There is no quick fix. It took time and lies to get us into this mess, its going to take time and absolute honesty, to fix it.

Dear Mr. Martorana

As a candidate for California’s 20th Congressional district seat you’ve indicated your views on a number of issues facing voters. The Sportsmen’s and Animal Owners’ Voting Alliance (SAOVA) would like to better understand your position and feelings on animal ownership and the outdoor recreation sports of hunting and fishing.
>
Approximately 13 million Americans are licensed hunters, slightly more than 10% of all registered voters - anglers are even more numerous, 35 million. One third of all U.S. households have a pet, most frequently a dog or a cat. These sportsmen and animal owners are under attack. Using the guise of “animal welfare,” groups such as the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), Fund for Animals, ASPCA, Doris Day Animal League (DDAL) and the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) seek to eliminate or severely restrict many of our existing rights and traditions.
>
SAOVA is a nationwide, non-partisan group of men and women involved in hunting, fishing, and animal ownership. I’m a SAOVA volunteer. Many other voters and I would like to learn more of your opinion of and relationship with these so called “animal rights” organizations. Please take the opportunity to review and respond to this questionnaire so that your potential constituents may better know your opinions on the important topics affecting us.

Kindly reply by February 10th, if at all possible. If this date isn’t feasible for you, please indicate when I may look forward to your response.

>

>
> * Do you support the states’ prerogatives to manage their resident wildlife populations and establish local hunting regulations, without federal interference?
>
