Mobsters Against the Recall

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 7:32 pm

One reason Democrats seem to do so well in many elections is because half the population is stupider than average. Why that half votes so consistently Democrat is beyond me, but it does happen. Take for example, this story from the Washington Post which reports that an angry mob of union hacks heckled Maria Shriver, a liberal Democrat, over her appearance at Wal-Mart and her husband’s candidacy in the successor election. Funny-money quote:

“She’s over here promoting a company that’s refusing to pay health care for its workers,” said Bill Camp, executive secretary of the Sacramento Central Labor Council. “She should be ashamed. Her grandfather would be appalled.

[Emphasis added.]

Shriver’s grandfather, of course, was everyone’s favorite bootlegger, Joseph P. Kennedy. While it may be true that the Mob offers excellent job benefits, I’m not sure I’d hold them out as a model for Wal-Mart, or anyone else, to follow.

UPDATE: The New York Times, never one to disappoint its critics, has managed to spin this “unions hate Wal-Mart and the recall” story into a “women hate Arnold” story.

That’s really funny. Never much of a fan of the Kennedy clan, I glossed right over the grandfather thing.

  2. CGHill Says:

The Democrats haven’t polled 50 percent in a Presidential election in ages - does this mean something?

  3. Mike Says:

Maybe they meant her other grandfather, Robert Sargent Shriver. I mean, he could be appalled by things like that, for all we know.
