You know and I know that a driver license serves as a de facto "proof" of legitimacy, which is why the illegals want it so badly - and why they are extremely unlikely to accept my proposed two-tiered system as an alternative. This is especially so in the age of motor voter / auto fraudo which, when combined with SB 60, would effectively require the DMV to register as voters all illegal aliens who claim to be citizens. They're ILLEGAL! I don't care what kind of jobs they do... usually very low paying... so what kind of "taxes" do they pay anyway? Too many sponge off our society, i.e. medical, schools, food stamps... so what's our gain? Actually they have no problems getting that lic. now, tho not thru the DMV. They merely look down the street and there's a guy selling them. Insurance? That's a joke! Firstly they take the absolute minimum, make a downpayment, make no more payments, the policy lapses. So why would it be any different w/a "legit" lic.? Unfortunately, every few years, our stupid elected officials declare amnesty. This only serves to fuel more "illegals" to come... since they know if they can hang in here long enough, they'll get amnesty... eventually. What a crock! Yes, my grandparents and great grandparents were immigrants... but they came here LEGALLY!! They applied, they waited, came over in dark, dingy ships, sick most of the time. There is enough drain on the economy now. We don't need to give even more people (who aren't supposed to be here anyway) the ability to sponge off the government. Another down side I have heard mention of is the possibility that driver's licenses might lose their validity. What would happen then? Would we have to then get another type of license or ID to show we were legal? The whole idea makes me wish I worked for the I.N.S. I would sit at the DMV and catch all the illegals I found!
