Julian Sanchez thinks only “cryptoracists” (whatever that means) believe illegal aliens should be called “illegal.” Memo to Julian: Drugs are bad, mmmmkay?
UPDATE: A troll who calls himself “Joe B.,” who appears to have posting privileges at Reason (note the referring document, the congruence between the times of his visit and his post, and the fact that he posted the comment from 4.35.72.201), has chimed in. Here’s what Julian …. um, I mean, “Joe,” has to say:

Nice spin. Now try reading what Sanchez actually wrote:

That comment leaves very little room open to the possiblity that anyone other than a “cryptoracist” (whatever the hell that is supposed to mean) would object to the use of a patently dishonest term like “undocumented,” preferring instead a more honest and accurate term like “illegal.” Sorry, Special Joe, you lose.

And, in case the plain meaning of his post isn’t obvious enough to you, try deciphering this statement he made in the comments thread:
I’m fine with the phrase “illegal immigrant”, and I’m fine with “undocumented worker.” But I’m entertained by people who become apoplectic with rage when anyone uses the latter term.
Doesn’t leave much room for misinterpretation, does it?
No, Special Joe, it doesn’t. On the one hand, it does not do an effing thing to explain what the made-up word “cryptoracist” is supposed to mean. On the other, it abundantly clear that in Julian’s warped little world, using accurate terms is every bit as valid as using inaccurate ones, and that anyone who disagrees must be a big racist meanie.
Memo to Special Joe: next time you’re thinking of trolling to help a co-worker, try to do a better job covering your tracks, mmmkay?

I think he’s trying to say “closeted” while trying to sound cool.
That’s if it’s analogous to cryptofascist, at least.

The Bolt Baranek part says practically nothing about who the poster is. As I noted in the original post, however, the referral log says that the poster was referred here from “http://reason.com/mt/mt.cgi?__mode=menu&blog_id=1.” That page is only viewable to people with posting privileges on Hit and Run.
