Sucky Template Redux
Thanks to Dale, Suzi and Dowingba for their input on dealing with the right sidebar. Dale suggested replacing the DIV tags with a table. It’s a popular solution, but I opted not to do it because it would have been far too labor-intensive to be worthwhile. Suzi suggested incrreasing the main blog display. That’s a popular solution, too, but I opted not to do that because I’d feel like an enabler. How dare that arrogant little side bar try to tell me what to do with the rest of the blog. Feh.
So that left me with Dowingba’s solution, which was to adjust a few settings in the styles template (for most MT users, including me, that’s the file called styles-site.css). After a little experimentation, it seems to be working now. In case anyone else wants to fix their templates, I’ve reproduced the settings below. Of course it should go without saying (though it doesn’t, which is why I’m going to say it) that you should back up your existing template before monkeying with it.
