Liars Against the Death Penalty

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 3:41 pm

I’ve come down hard on the Campaign to End the Death Penalty over their highly misleading “fact sheet” concerning Kevin Cooper, an inmate who is currently in San Quentin but will move to hell on February 10. Apparently, I did not come down on them hard enough. Here’s a made-up “fact” from these lying liars I forgot to mention before:

Josh Ryen, sole survivor of the attack, has always maintained that three white or Hispanic men killed his family. Josh and his grandmother have supported Kevin Cooper’s defense team and question Kevin’s guilt.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, Josh Ryen offered a somewhat different perspective in a letter he recently sent to Gov. Schwarzenegger:

The last memory I have of my family is seeing my mother, naked, dead and bloody, lying beside me, and knowing from the smell that everyone else was gone as well. Now I know for sure and beyond a shadow of a doubt that Cooper is the killer. I really want him to die, not only for what he did to me and my family, but because he tormented me so much with his claim of innocence.

Patterico worries about the possibility that an innocent person might be executed every once in a while. So do I. If it happens, let’s put the blame where it belongs: on Mike Farrell, Jesse Jackson, the Campaign to End the Death Penalty, and all the other little boys grown men who cried wolf.
