Like a Blogtard, But Without The Blog

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 8:58 pm

Get a load of this moron who is comment-spamming every site that he can find that criticizes SpyWiper malware. Also notice that the comment “Dennis” left on my site looks nothing like the one he/she/it left on Patterico’s, the Boi’s, and God-knows-who-else’s.

NEA Jerk

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 5:07 pm

The National Extortion Education Ass., which has long served as one of the most powerful bullies on Capitol Hill, got an unexpected taste of its own medicine when Education Secretary Rod Paige described them as a “terrorist” organization in a private meeting yesterday. NEA President Reg Weaver responded by reminding us why Paige made that intemperate remark in the first place. Fortunately, the Bush Administration is not taking the bait (yet).

Just for the record, I do agree that Paige’s statement is over the top. For decades, the NEA has done many, many bad things, including some illegal bad things. It has not, however, hijacked airplanes, sent suicide bombers into public squares, mailed anthrax to its opponents, or resorted to any other tactics that warrant a comparison to terrorism. Paige should not have made that statement, and his subsequent apology should have been a simple, unqualified “I’m sorry” rather than the relatively defensive non-apology apology he delivered today. Nevertheless, if California “Attorney” General Bill Lockyer can keep his job after making much worse statements about prison rape, hate crimes and the striking grocery workers, it’s tough to see why Paige shouldn’t be allowed to keep his job after this incident, as well.

In the interest of unity, however, I am prepared to stand by the NEA in calling for his ouster, on one of the following conditions:

  1. The Bush Administration expels all officials who make intemperate remarks about the NEA, and the NEA expels all members who make intemperate remarks about Republicans.
  2. Bush fires the entire Department of Education.

Foks Nooze Kan’t Spel

While reading news in brief on FoxNews, I stumbled across this headline:

Nasty Burglar Gets Just Desserts

I expected something brilliantly punny to follow, like maybe a story about a stupid burglar tripping over a sundae, getting smothered by a giant wedding cake, attacked by a homeowner with a crème brulée (pardon the French) in self-defense, or what have you. Instead I was treated to a rather revolting story about a burglar who defecated in his victim’s basement, and was later ordered by a judge to scrub 100 toilets as part of his punishment. Yuck.

At least he didn’t have that stuff for dessert.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, RINOINO

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 10:10 am

In his first 100 days, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has done a horrible job living up to his longstanding reputation as a Republican In Name Only (RINO). At a speech before the Republican convention last Friday, he made only a perfunctory reference to the need to work with the Democrats in Sacramento, followed by a strong admonition never to “abandon our principles just to cut a deal.” This kind of divisiveness simply will not do. Has Mr. Schwarzenegger already forgotten the RINO party that made him what he is today? What about California voters’ clear mandate last October’s election, when only 10% of the electorate voted for the Real Republican, while almost three times that many voted for a borderline-retarded MEChista, and a solid plurality voted for the RINO?

Now, the Orange County Register reports on his 77 appointments during the first 100 days of his administration. Of these 77, a whopping 54, or more than two-thirds, have gone to registered Republicans. This in a state where registered Democrats have long outnumbered Republicans by a substantial margin. The remaining 23 consist of 14 Democrats and only 9 independents. Granted, one of those “Republicans” is Richard Riordan, a true-blue RINO on most issues, yet even he has handed a job dealing with one of the few areas in which he is more conservative than Dan Lungren. Even if we moved him to the Democrat column, the numbers would still be highly skewed, at 53-15-9. And then we have him sending a strongly worded letter to “Silly” Billy Lockyer, by far the highest ranking Democrat to vote for Mr. Schwarzenegger, telling Silly Billy how to do … um, I mean, telling Silly Billy to do his job.

If you are a RINO who generally prefers the platforms of the Democrat Party to whose of the GOP, but who voted for Schwarzenegger anyway because you happen to like the letter “R” better than “D,” you have good reason to be disappointed in our current governor. He may have run his campaign as an all-inclusive “governator for everyone” kinda guy, but thus far, he seems to be acting more like a RINO in name only, or RINOINO.

Just remember, don’t blame the Clam. He threw away his vote on that unelectable jerk who tried to do for the Reps and RINOs in California what Ralph Nader is now trying to do for the Dems and DINOs across the nation.

Frisco Update

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 11:42 am

Frisco Chronicle columnist and token reasonable person Debra Saunders has a nice column today that fact-checks the meme equating gay marriage with civil rights, and Gavin Newsom’s government-sponsored crime with genuine acts of civil disobedience by private individuals who faced a real risk of criminal prosecution. Here’s the money quote (with certain expletives deleted):

But The Special City has long held a cheap view of civil disobedience. Remember last year’s anti-war demonstrators. They deliberately clogged city streets and blocked access to government buildings under the mantle of “civil disobedience”

Blogtard

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 5:46 pm

I don’t take any pleasure in doing this. Like an execution or a gubernatorial recall, it’s an ugly process, but one that sometimes has to be done. I hereby declare William T. Quick, also known as the Daily Pundit, a blogtard.

I came pretty close to conferring this dubious distinction on Mr. Quick a few days ago, after he sided with a regular reader of his, who calls himself Young Goodman Brown, who recently discovered the mysterious “Chainsaw Amendment” to the U.S. Constitution, which prohibits private individuals from committing sexual assaults with chainsaws. My copy of the Constitution only includes the first 27 Amendments; I presume the Chainsaw Amendment is number 28. In any event, questioned YGB’s premise in a separate comment, as it was clear YGB had no clue about the state action doctrine. Mr. Quick – or perhaps I should call him Mr. Chainsaw – called me a “moron” and even went as far as to accuse me of advocating chainsaw rape, simply because I couldn’t find the provision of the U.S. Constitution that supposedly prohibited it. But that’s not what really got Billy’s goat in a gruff. No, what pushed him over the edge was a separate comment of mine in which I recommended he refrain from blogging on subjects where, by his own admission, he is either unwilling or unable to respect opposing viewpoints or even take them at face value. He responded, not once but twice, with substantially the same snotty remark. The first version summed up his attitude the best:

I’ve said it before, but let me make this also crystal clear: I write my blog for me, not to do any “favors” for you, or anybody else. Don’t like it? Fine. Drag your ass back to your own little blog and shoot your mouth off all you want.

Remember this, the next time Billy Boy tries to guilt you into a donating to his site.

Blogging the Convention

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 4:18 pm

I’m at the Republican convention in Burlingame right now, where I’ve had the pleasure of meeting fellow Bearflaggers Zachariah and The Irish Lass. Last night over dinner we heard a pump-you-up speech even the Clam could love – though he probably would be too busy stewing over Props 57 & 58 to appreciate it. Today, over lunch we heard a four way debate between Senate candidates Bill Jones, Rose Martin Rosario Marín, Howard Whatsisname and Toni Whatserface. Jones’s message was pretty good, but Ms. Whatserface’s was better overall. Mr. Whatsisname had some good ideas (impeaching rogue judges), some not-so-good ones (banning abortion) and one positively awful one (repealing NAFTA). As to Ms. Marín, her overall message seemed to have three basic themes:

  1. I’m not Barbara Boxer.
  2. In an overwhelmingly Democrat state like California, the only person who can beat Barbara Boxer is a Republican with a(n) Hispanic surname who has who has never held a statewide elective office, not the only non-criminal Republican who managed to win a statewide election in a year when Republicans generally tanked.
  3. Did I mention that I’m not Barbara Boxer?

On the plus side, I did have the pleasure of having Ms. Marín sign a dollar bill of mine that she had also signed earlier. While making it out to XRLQ at my request, she asked me if I was a (Mexican) radio station. Heh.

UPDATE: The original version of this post incorrectly stated that Marí® has never held any elective office. As the Boi notes in a comment, this is not true; as Marín has served both as city councilwoman and mayor of the city/cesspool of Huntington Park (no, I don’t blame Marín for the fact that Huntington Park is a cesspool – I’m sure it was long before she came on the scene). Speaking of cesspool/cities, have you ever noticed that they almost always seem to have the word “Park” or “Gardens” as part of their name?

Doggie Weddings in Frisco

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 7:19 am

Only one day after earning a medal for my role in a jihad on Frisco, I’m off to invade that city for the weekend. While there, I plan to do two things at City Hall (I won’t do them, of course, but for what it’s worth, I do plan to do them):

  1. Dial 911, and report a crime in progress.
  2. Obtain a marriage license for my dogs.

I mean, why not? It’s all about love, right?

Council Winners

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 9:38 pm

The results are in. Congratulations to Inn of the Last Home for the winning non-Council entry, “What to Write, What to Write…,” and to me for the winning Council entry, Jihad on Frisco. Damn, I’m good. [OK, maybe not that good; after all it's only the second time you've won in ... how many weeks now? -Ed. Shut up! -Ed-ed.]

More Judicial Activist Revisionism

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 2:03 pm

Get a load of this letter in the Dog Trainer by Pamela Watson. As a preemptive measure against linkrot, I’ve reproduced the letter below in its entirety:

In “S.F. Judge Won’t Halt Marriages” (Feb. 18), Randy Thomasson of the Campaign for California Families states, “If we don’t respect the rule of law, then we are not a democracy. We’re a dictatorship.” Heady talk.

Perhaps we should remind Thomasson that in this democracy, laws may be passed by the majority, but it is the role of the judiciary to protect the citizens from the tyranny of the majority. If the notion of majority rule had been used to decide every issue in this democracy, then blacks and women would still not have the right to vote.

[Emphasis added.]

Boy, it sure is a good thing that the Supreme Court made up the 15th and 19th Amendments all on its own. After all, there is no way that even a simple majority of Congress, let alone the required supermajority, would ever have voted for this stuff.

On the flip side, I still haven’t forgiven the Supreme Court for that prohibition experiment they tried back in the 1920s. I’ll bet Ms. Watson wasn’t too thrilled when the Supreme Court invaded Iraq, either.
