Time to Invoke Godwin’s Law
Apparently, Dr. Menlo can’t/won’t tell the difference between freedom of speech and endorsement of ugly speech. He offers this quiz (hat tip” Venomous Kate) that likens Charles Johnson’s excellent blog to the Nazis. This comparison is based not on anything Johnson has posted, but rather, by hand-picking a few of the most deranged comments that have been left on his blog by readers. He non-explains this inferential leap thusly:
Yes, the quotes I’ve used here are all “cherry-picked” - from LGF and the Nazis both - but since the webmaster patrols LGF pretty thoroughly it’s fair to say that his site is as defined by what he allows (e.g., calls to “sterilize” the “subhuman” Palestinians) as it is by what he doesn’t (e.g., criticisms of Israel or George W).
Can anyone corroborate that? I don’t read LGF all that often myself, but this is the first time I’ve heard anyone seriously argue that Charles Johnson deletes all comments that are critical of either Israel or George W. Bush. Even if that is true, which I doubt, it might be worth pointing out that hating terrorists for murdering innocent Jews is one thing, and hating innocent Jews for simply being Jewish is quite another. But we wouldn’t want any actual facts getting in the way of a good rant, now, would we?
For what it’s worth, I scored a 92% on the quiz.
UPDATE: If you take the quiz, be sure to log your score here.
UPDATE: Here’s a competing quiz.

Charles doesn’t delete dissenting opinions. He deletes comments of a purely hateful nature. Some people just can’t tell the difference between something like “The palestinians aren’t the only ones who have committed atrocities in the West Bank” and “You’re nothing but a hateful ****ing JEW! May Allah smite thee!”
