Note to Self

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 2:39 pm

Don’t even consider donating to your alma mater.

Meanwhile, a law student exhibits the only kind of free speech that will remain at Boalt if this dreadful policy passes:

UPDATE: Erin O’Connor has more.

It’s so odd, I mean you’d think these compassionate lawyer types would be willing to see their tuition raised to spare the poor the draconion cuts that Arnold might make. You wouldn’t think they’re being selfish? Also, do they want higher taxes? They are only in school for three years. Me, I’m resigned to the fee increases…what can you expect, it to be free?

  2. Xrlq Says:

I paid $10,000 a year for tuition, so I can’t exactly blame those who don’t want to pay more than that. I do blame those who go about it in such a tasteless way, however. What do you think about the faculty speech code issue? That’s the one that I’m more concerned about.

judging by the photo, i don’t think i’d want her to give me a “hummer”.

    AMEN!!!!!

I think speech codes in general are a total waste of time, and important it’s guaranteed it will be applied disproportionally against less accepted viewpoints. It’s weird I’m talking to a girl in one of my classes about homosexuality, and I say well a lot depends on whether you believe it’s genetic or not. Or predetermined. She wouldn’t even consider the possibility of it not being totally predetermined. Liberals, often decry closed-minded conservatives, but it tends very much to be the opposite, I’ll consider just about anything. I’m just hard to persuade. I think that is open-mindedness at it’s best. Anyhoo, life’s expensive, and as a youngin, it will only get more so…Mello-Roos, Tuition, OASDI taxes, taxes generally. I attribute this to the fact the boomers are the Me generation, but I don’t really think it’s true. It just so happened I was born when Jerry Brown was governor, and Weve been trying to fix the mess up sense, but its hard when the Dems control the legislature. Oh well.

No! No, a thousand times no! I would never accept a “hummer” from her.

Anyhoo, perhaps these same people should protest the DREAM Act.
In effect, that would take discounted educations away from U.S. citizens
and give them to citizens of other countries. California already has
a similar law; the DREAM Act would be national and is supported by Kerry.
If there were fewer illegal aliens soaking up education dollars
there would be more for our own citizens.

Some time back, Xrlq himself discussed the Dream Act.

    My link to that post has generated about a zillion comments;
apparently they send the link to my post around by email or something,
because there’s no permalink I can find.

BTW, this comment box is funky. I inserted hard line breaks in my message above because the caret keeps moving all the way to the right but I can’t see the rightmost 33% as it’s under the the blogroll. That is, the rightmost 33% of what I’m typing is under the blog roll, while the caret is still visible. Also, I read this blog via bloglines, and I just realized that bloglines missed the feed, so apparently I need to resubscribe.

No! No, a thousand times no, I repeat.
