If You Kan’t Rite Good, Thank a Teecher

Patterico has recently demonstrated the tendency of the Dog Trainer to load up on letters to the editor that just “happen” to take an overwhelmingly hard left view. The O.C. Register, unsurprisingly, has a much lower idiotiarian-to-reasonable-person ratio. Nevertheless, the idiot lobby does get its fair representation among that paper’s letters to the editor. Here’s one from Tim Horrigan of San Juan Capistrano, which ran in today’s paper:

I strongly object to Mike Shelton’s cartoon in your Friday edition, which inferred [sic, implied] that the career trajectory of an Abu Ghraib guard goes from abusing prisoners to joining the anti-war movement. As a high school journalism teacher, I encourage my students to voice their opinions – only if they can be supported by the facts. Combining fanciful opinions with shocking graphics would garner Shelton an F in my class.

One wonders what grade this journalism whiz gives to students who (1) misuse the word “infer,” and/or (2) completely miss the point of whatever it is they’re writing about. Oh yeah, to top things off, it’s worth nothing that Capo Unified is one of the “good” school districts in this state.

[I'm assuming this edu-whiz is writing about this cartoon, and not a subsequent one that actually appeared for the first time on Friday. If my assumption is wrong, watch for another cartoon to appear online Real Soon Now.]
