‘Hat of the Day: Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack
On Friday, Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack vetoed House File 2558, a bill that would have extended to the definition of homicide to include the murder of a fetus. It also would have exempted lawful abortions, as California does, so the argument that this law would have impacted the right of a woman to obtain an abortion is about as good as the argument that California’s law has prevented women from obtaining abortions. In other words, it’s complete horseshit, and Vilsack knows that. The only plausible explanation I see for the veto is that he owed a favor to the extreme pro-abortionists – you know, the nice guys who smear their opponents as “anti-choice” rather than admit to themselves that the abortion issue involves anything besides choice – who helped this choad get elected in the first place.
