Pie
Yo, Mrs. X! You Get Your Bitch-Ass Back in the Kitchen! And Make Me Some Pie!
I used to think that saying stuff like that would make me a sexist pig, but God and the judge both say it’s OK, so who am I to disagree?

it’s not Mrs. X, it’s “Wuh-man!”

Mr. X,
I find most of your comments insightful and enjoy reading your website and posts on other sites, but I believe you are mistaken in this case. Are the words by definition sexist: yes. Are the actions they call upon sexist: no. Telling a wife that her responsibility is to her husband and then telling a man that it’s his duty to cherish her and treat her well is not wrong. If anything, it’s the view in our society that these views are not rational and are wrong from a ‘modern, enlightened’ perspective that has caused a massive breakdown in the nuclear family and led to the unhappiness we see in relationships. It’s important in a marriage to have the husband and wife understand the need to sacrifice themselves to each other. And since you’re a happily married man, I’m certain you practice these actions, even if they aren’t put into words.
Men and women are different, physically, emotionally and mentally. They have different desires and needs as well as capabilities. That does not make someone these obvious facts sexist; it makes them correct.
Thank you.

No one is arguing – well, not me, anyway – that men and women are not different. Of course we have different roles, to a point. But any view that requires women to relate to their husbands as churches do to God, and as slaves do to their masters, goes far beyond that in my book.
I might reconsider my position just as soon as I hear from one person who does not believe the Bible or any other religious teaching that imposes a similar hierarchy on men vs. women, and who also believes it is not sexist to demand total submission of one sex to the other.
