Oh, That Retarded Media
The Ass. Press reports that the nation’s first trial over punch ballots since the 2000 election has just begun in Ohio. OK, OK, maybe not the first overall, just the first such trial since the last one. Just ask California Governor Joe “Gray” Davis.
Screenshot below, in case the Ass. Press surprises me and fixes their boner.
UPDATE: No such surprises yet. Seeing the same moron story reprinted in today’s Orange County Register however, does surprise me, as does finding a longer version in today’s Frisco Chronicle, and which alleges the following:
The trial, brought by the ACLU and expected to last a week, is the first of its kind in the nation, voting experts say. Lawsuits filed against several other states have been settled with agreements that punch-card ballots will be replaced.
Apparently, the imaginary Experts™ Connie Mabin consulted prior to writing this story have never heard of California, where a substantively identical challenge prevailed last fall before a unanimous three-”judge” panel of the Ninth Circuit, only to be swatted down by the same circuit en banc. Or perhaps Ms. Mabin does not consider California or the Ninth Circuit to be part of “this nation.” That would be an understandable mistake from her perspective, if not from the Chronicle’s or the Register’s.
UPDATE x2: The Sacramento Bee also reproduces Ms. Mabin’s journalistic malpractice with a version of the story that was last updated at 9:59 a.m. PDT, almost fourteen hours after the original version of the story broke. I guess nobody fact-checks the Ass. Press anymore. Meanwhile, the Dog Trainer, for all its faults, has at least had the good sense to leave this story alone.

Cheating In Ohio
Apparently the ACLU is mad because they’re using punchcard ballots in Ohio. Now, remember that the left doesn’t want them switching to electronic ballots either, which means that no matter what, Republicans lose. Now, granted, there’s reason to be w…

I can’t believe the ACLU is doing this. On the other hand, knowing the ACLU, I do believe it.
The ACLU and the Extremely Right Reverend Jesse Jackson are both in the same business: extortion and intimidation.
Punch cards work. They’ve worked for years. They’re recountable, they’re auditable.
The ACLU doesn’t work, it’s not accountable, and it’s not auditable.

What’s not to believe? Contrary to Connie Mabin’s Experts™, this is far from the first time they’ve done it. Last fall’s stunt, which raised exactly the same non-issue, very nearly derailed the recall election.
