I think I’ve finally figured out why the L.A. Times staff is so keen on taking everyone’s guns away: if everyone had one, it’s a near-certainty that someone would use his to put this guy out of our misery.

“this guy” link goes to another story - about Capitalizing Important Nouns.
Were you thinking about the guy who holed himself up in his girlfriends apartment and threatened to kill himself?
His last words were probably “Don’t laugh - you’re next!”

Actually, the link was correct. “This guy” is the idiot who writes cutesy editorials like the one I linked to.

When I worked as an LSAT instructor, I told my students that the best way to prepare for the reading comprehension section was to religiously read every LA Times editorial, because they were as boring and pointless (and only slightly shorter in length).
