Just Long Enough to Steal One More Election

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 7:00 pm

Remember Theresa LaPore? She was the county election supervisor from Palm Beach County, Florida who became every Democrat’s whipping-girl for designing the infamous “butterfly” ballot in 2000. The ballot was indistinguishable from the one they’ve been using for decades in Cook County, Illinois, amidst protests from no one, yet a Daley who has used that ballot all his life had the chutzpah to grandstand against it. Whatever.

Ever since the brouhaha, Ms. LaPore, formerly a proud Democrat, has been an ex-Democrat. Yesterday came the final insult, and as of January 3, she’ll be an ex-supervisor, as well. I’m not sure which is worse, losing an election for such a stupid reason, or losing for any reason to a guy named Arthur Anderson. Yeah, that sounds like the name of a guy I can trust to “count every vote” as many times as may be necessary to obtain the desired result. Oh well, not our problem, not this year anyway.

Remind me never to run for office against a guy named Joe Enronn.

I will acknowledge that Democrats have only themselves to blame for the butterfly ballot. I would say “we Democrats” but my state has had easy-to-use and understand ballots for many years.
