Assault Weapons
For once, the Community Against Legal Violence, the Brady Campaign Prevent Lawful Gun Violence and the L.A. Dog Trainer all put out something remotely useful that pertains to guns: a map of the few states whose democratically elected legislatures saw fit to ban the “assault” weapons all Americans supposedly want banned. On Monday, the Making Dianne Feinstein Feel Validated Act will sunset, thereby re-legalizing all those evil “assault” weapons, and gun owners will be celebrating from sea to shining sea, except in the few unlucky states on that map.
I propose that all gun owners in California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York, and in the hoplophobic counties of Illinois, Indiana and Ohio, all get together and break out an empty bottle of champagne, to be poured into an empty glass to celebrate the newfound freedoms we won’t be getting. Anyone care to join me?

Wonder if those 70% in the annenberg poll called people in those states? Or legislators

But those pesky assault weapons look so mean, we must ban them!

SU, I’m sure the figures are skewed that way. I can’t picture anyone supporting his own state’s ban while opposing the federal one.
