Bush Scowled, Networks Kerry Fouled
Michelle Malkin is annoyed to see so many Democrats making so much hay over the facial expressions of President Bush that weren’t supposed to be aired in the first place. I’m annoyed too, but in a good way. When the final catch was made in yesterday’s game, every network agreed that the Angels had won, no ifs ands or buts. Political debates aren’t like that. Contrary to popular wisdom, the jury is still out as to who “won” Thursday’s debate. Perceptions can change, and the more reminders the American people get of the fact that Kerry won on a technicality, the more Americans will re-think their view that he won it at all. That these reminders come from Kerry himself is icing on the cake.
Meanwhile, here’s hoping the Repubs will respond not in kind, but with debate-related commercials of their own that show a poised, well-dressed, smiling Kerry delivering statements that are articulate, and substantively insane.
UPDATE: Bill at INDC Journal has evidence that Kerry had a cheat-sheet. If true, that’s a much more serious violation than the networks showing Bush scowling.

Michelle’s annoyance is a direct result of her mental illness. You shouldn’t rub it in her face like that.

I mean, have some compassion, afterall.

So Kerry cheated at the debate.. just like he cheated on his Purple Hearts… par for the course…
Was Kerry the best ya’ll could muster for 2004?

I agree that the jury is still out and I believe that when all is said and done this debate is going to do more harm to Kerry than good. The “global test” comment, the let’s trust Iran with nuclear material comment, the let’s be multilateralists in Iraq, but not with North Korea nonsense. Throw in the no bunker-busting nukes and the Bush Campaign has more than enough material from here until election day.
Don’t know if the cheating story has legs or not, but if it does say goodbye to any Kerry debate “bounce.”

I thought the scowls were on purpose, especially since Bush is so good at appearing dispassionate and above-the-fray. The fact that he cared about the stuff Kerry was saying shouldn’t bother people much.
But the things Kerry said will haunt him for a long time to come.
And I’m not completely positive that on some unconscious level Bush wasn’t making an effort *not* to hit it out of the part, in order to lull Kerry into a false sense of security and stick the knife in the next time they debate. That is, after all, his M.O.

It’s just like Kerry to pull something like this while his back was turned so NOBODY could see it. His cleverness is disgusting!! It’s a good thing Fox was running all the cameras or we’d never have even known about this
This is the only logical explanation for why Kerry did so much better than Bush. I’ve even heard several people say that the object he took from his pocket looked like a PDA? Only he could be so brazen!
This has nothing to do with desperate paranoia and everything to do with the TRUTH! Stay on this story!
