Fahrenh*** 9/11
Mrs. X, Baby X* and I watched both Fahrenh*** 9/11 films today on DVD. First we watched Michael Moore’s crockumentary, Fahrenheit 9/11, which I rented, and then we watched Fahrenhype 9/11, which I bought. I’d urge everyone to do the same. Fahrenheit 9-11 is a very well made piece of propaganda, with many deceits and a few outright falsehoods, and no hint that there might be another side to the story. In that way, it’s a bit like watching John Edwards’s half of the Vice Presidential debate, with Dick Cheney’s responses edited out. If you don’t know the facts, or Michael Moore’s own history of deliberate deception, Fahrenheit 9/11 will leave you thinking that George W. Bush is an evil monster who must be defeated at all costs. That’s where Fahrenhype 9/11 comes in, setting the record straight on many, though not all, of Moore’s major deceits. For a more complete fisking of the film, see “Fifty-Nine Deceits in Fahrenheit 9/11,” by David Kopel. Fahrenhype doesn’t address all 59, but it does address more than enough of them to make the point. Upon viewing both, your view of the President will probably be about where it was before you first saw or heard of Fahrenheit 9/11. Your view of Michael Moore, however, will be significantly lower, perhaps enough so to innoculate the targets of his next crockumentary, whoever they might be.
I also think a similar approach to John Kerry is in order. If you think the SwiftVets might be pulling a Michael Moore on Senator Kerry, then by all means, read Unfit for Command anyway. Then make up your mind after reading that other book that refutes all the main points in Unfit for Command. Oh wait, I almost forgot – that book doesn’t exist. Nevermind.
*It never ceases to amaze me how easily some people fall for Michael Moore’s stunts. Many even get defensive, throwing in remarks like “c’mon, I wasn’t born yesterday!” Well, Baby X was born yesterday, and even he didn’t believe a word Michael Moore said. So there.

GWB is an evil monster. How is there any doubt? A preventive war fought on false pretenses to swing elections & control oil? Sorry man, step back and analyze the facts.

Oh, so we went there for the oil. Silly me. Is that why gasoline is so cheap nowadays?

while I don’t think we went there for oil and while I do think Bush has a very shortsighted view in regards to what we’re doing in Iraq, I do think he is VERY good at looking down the road a ways and how having major influence over a country like Iraq would benefit his wallet. And his family’s wallet. And sure, our wallets b/c we won’t pay as much in gas. Have no doubt that we will have plenty of say in how that oil is used.

You subjected an infant to Michael Moore?
I’m calling CPS.

Also, you commentators make it sound like controlling a strategic resource that our entire nation depends on and which is our weak point is a bad thing.
It’d be like screaming “no blood for water” or “no blood for air!”

Not to worry, Clam. That’s what his immune system is for. As a toe-tag liberal through high school and most of college, I wouldn’t have been able to swat down crap like Fahrenheit 9/11 until I was in my early 20s. My goal is for Baby X to accomplish that by the time he’s in kindergarden.
