The Marionette Strikes Back
By now you’ve probably read Sean Penn’s angry letter to South Park / Team America creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Below is a translation.
October 6, 2004
To Trey Parker and Matt Stone,
When I was younger and didn’t take myself so friggin’ seriously, I used to have a sense of humor. I don’t anymore, of course, but I’ll be damned if I admit that publicly. Seeing myself as a marionette was the last straw, but I’m not going to talk about that, except to remind you that I’m not talking about it.
Besides, making fun of me is only one of two things I’m pissy about. The other is your heretical suggestion that people who don’t follow politics closely enough to know what’s going on probably shouldn’t vote. How dare you! Do you have any friggin’ idea how lopsided our elections would be if only well-informed people voted? Asking my party to give up the moron vote is like asking your party to give up the vote of anyone who is offended by your silly little TV show. Not gonna happen.
Screw you guys, I’m going home.
Love and Kisses,
Xrlq SpicoliP.S. I’m actually so full of myself as to think that by driving you and Dennis Miller around in Iraq for a few hours will cause you to agree with me about everything.

But u missed the part where he all but calls them Stupid Faggots. Those Hollylib values don’t run too deep, do they?

I’m not even sure where that comment came from. I don’t remember Trey and Matt appearing publicly in drag. Do you?

Actually, yes they did. One of them showed up to the Oscars when South Park was up in the J-Lo no-front dress, and the other wore something equally silly.

Heh. Wonder how I missed that. In any event, it sounds like that statement was fair game, so I don’t regret not having harped on it.
