Kenneth Parnell, Nonviolent Third Striker
Yesterday I told you about Steve Mathews, one of the thousands of “nonviolent” murders, kidnappers and rapists who stands to be re-sentenced under Prop 66. Today’s sweetheart, who was mentioned in the same Daily Journal article, is Kenneth Parnell, a 72 year old man in a wheelchair who is doing 25-to-life over one measly $500 transaction. We’ve all tried to buy something we shouldn’t at some point in our lives, right? And c’mon, the guy’s 72. And did I mention he uses a wheelchair? Have some compassion.
OK, OK, so maybe Parnell’s prior offenses were a tad more serious than a mere $500 transaction. So maybe at the tender age of 19 he kidnapped and sodomized a nine-year old boy. That was way back in the 1951. Can’t we let bygones be bygones? OK, so maybe 20 years later he kidnapped 7-year-old Steven Stayner and held him hostage for seven years, severely traumatizing not only him, but his little brother Cary who went on to become a serial killer in Yosemite in 1999. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to tell you what the above-refereneced $500 transaction was for: Parnell was attempting to “buy” a young boy in December, 2002.
Just like the serial killer he spawned, Kenneth Parnell appears to be quite fond of Yosemite. If you have children, and Prop. 66 passes, you might want to consider vacationing somewhere else.

I could not believe it when I saw he was on the list. His name is enough to terrorize certain parts of the valley (central, I mean) even now. If that gets enough media in merced, modesto, fresno, etc (place that usually have pretty good voter turnout), it might be enough to keep prop 66 down. Kenneth Parnell deserves a hole in the ground where people piss on his head.
Gee can you tell when and where I grew up?

Then there’s poor Mr Abernathy, who butchered his girlfriend’s dog. His string of “anti-social activities” also goes back some years.
I was wavering on 66 until these two cases came up.
I think that one of the reasons for the decline in crime over they past few years (if there is one) can be traced to the fact that California bad guys left for greener pastures once it went in.
Fine with me.

It aggravates me, for the media, or the courts to say “not violent”. When a two year old child screams when she urinates, because she has been raped, you can’t tell me that is not violence. Whose responsibility is it, to keep these men and women off the streets that rape our children. I locked my doors at night to keep the rapists from my nine children. I did not know, that I had locked the rapist in my home, their father.
