Mudslides and Tsunamis
Guys, I know that what happened in La Conchita was terrible, but please, please spare us the tortured comparisons to the Boxing Day tsunami. The tsunami killed 200,000 innocent people who had no way of knowing a tsunami was on the horizon, and would have had mere minutes to escape in time if they had. The mudslides killed roughly a dozen people, most of whom were adults who should have known better than to stay in an area well-known for its mudslides when it had been raining nonstop for almost three weeks straight. Like Spoons, I feel terrible for the children who died, but let’s face it: the adults knew what they were getting into. If stating the obvious is blaming the victim, so be it. That doesn’t mean that it’s wrong.

The best part of that post is: “according to ABC news rich, white Americans have choices, but poor, brown Asians don’t.”
Well, yeah. People in California tend to own cars, while people in Sri Lanka don’t.
I think his problem is a common one that Stalin was fond of: “The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of millions is a statistic.”
He just doesn’t know the difference between the two because his head is too small to grasp how many people died.

Cnn went so far as to call it an example of “Extreme Weather”(tm).
