More Idiocy From Rall (But I Repeat Myself)

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 11:09 pm

Just in case you thought there really were any things that rats, lawyers or Ted Rall won’t do (when he isn’t busy playing a lawyer on TV), get a load of this gem:

With that, I apologize for every time I’ve called Ted Rall a prick, an asshole, or just about any other nasty name I can think of. All these words, however, vile, refer to thing that serve some useful purpose in the world. Try getting along for a day or two without an asshole, and you’ll see what I mean. We could all do without Ted Rall forever. [Obdisclaimer to strawtards: no that doesn't mean it's OK to go out and do anything stupid. Just sit back, relax, take a deep breath and pretend Ted Rall doesn't exist, and voilà, in your world, he won't.]

Even for Rall, this is pretty low. And stupid. And inasmuch as all of Hitler’s initial military success were, um, reversed by war’s end, factually inaccurate.

  2. The Pathetic Earthling Says:

Yes, except for that pesky thing called Stalingrad, and Leningrad and Moscow, and Kursk that Russian campaign worked out pretty well.

  3. Sigivald Says:

Reasons Ted Rall isn’t like a real cartoonist:

Real cartoonists can draw more than one character, and even make them look human.

I could rip apart Ted’s claims about Hitler (I mean, does Rall really think the Autobahn was not a military/prestige project, but a way for Bavarians to make it up to Leipzig for day trips?), but as he’s covered by a reason-repellent field, it’d be a waste of time.

Just an FYI, XRLQ, I link to this, but couldn’t trackback, since I do not see a trackback available. Thanks for posting it.

Good point, Sigivald. If Rall were remotely worthy of a debate, it might be worth pointing out that each and every one of his assertions is 100% wrong:

    1. Bush, on the one hand, was democratically elected, not once but twice. Even the media consortium concluded that he would have won under any legal scenario even if the U.S. Supreme Court had stayed out it. Hitler, by contrast, never won a single election, nor did his party ever garner more than 37% of The Popular VoteTM. Hitler was, in the truest sense of the phrase, “selected, not elected,” albeit by President Hindenburg, not by a court.
    2. You’ve already touched on part of the problem with this frame. Another is that President Bush isn’t exactly known for his stinginess on purely domestic matters. His prescription drug boondoggle probably doesn’t help his war effort quite as much as the Autobahn did for Hitler’s.
    3. So far, Bush is two for two, and depending on how Lebanon ends up, he may end up winning 3 out of 2, if that’s even possible. Hitler, by contrast, ultimately lost all of his military campaigns.
    4. Hitler killed himself to avoid taking responsibility for his actions.
  6. actus Says:

Hitler failed in art, not business.

  7. Xrlq Says:

Sounds like Hitler has more in common with Rall than with Bush.

  8. actus Says:

Where? rall has a somewhat art based career. Where did rall go to school?

Thats another point of difference – Art degree vs MBA.

Ah yes, another four panels of industrial-strength nastiness from the creepiest syndicated cartoonist in America. The creep compares the most notorious dictatorial maniac of the 20th Century with our own President — and finds our President wanting. You REALLY have to hate someone if, when comparing someone to Hitler, you feel compelled to come to the defense of Hitler.

But it’s that last panel that holds the Cracker Jack prize of venomousness. If reading this cartoon is like forcing yourself to eat a half-rancid bowl of stew, then reading that last column is like being shocked into vomiting when you bite down and taste a chunk of rotting potato. It isn’t just the gore in the panel, showing Hitler’s bloody corpse, which Rall’s style makes ten times creepier than it would be if drawn by some other cartoonist. It’s the message of the panel. That panel suggests to me — I don’t know if it suggested this to anyone else — that Rall believes that Bush would himself start “taking personal responsibility” only by shooting himself.

I would be shocked to learn that the Secret Service does NOT have Ted Rall on a list somewhere.
