		<description>Today I listened to an ethicist – on NPR, of course – claim that because Terri Schiavo has no functioning cerebral cortex she is not alive (he did not give a volume of cortex that he considers necessary to declare life, nor did he specify what Terri’s specific volume of reasidual cortex is)..

I understand that, for many, the definition of what constitutes life is a difficult challenge.

But do we not know death when we see it?

So, is the argument now, is Terri dead?
