I learned yesterday, to my despair, that La Times readers believe the Times and either, had no idea that Mr. Schiavo may have other motives, such as covering up his role in her current condition, or “don’t believe it”. As a result, those of us who believe she should live are pushing a right wing agenca and don’t understand how important these end of life issues are and how important it is to allow the husband to have the sole say, to avoid this scenario.

Having let two relatives die, when I would have preferred a different course, because the primary caregivers made certain of the relative’s wishes, I am appalled that there are people unwilling to take the same care in ensuring that this primary caregiver had made certain of Terri’s wishes.

Actually, that statementment says more about your reading comprehension abilities than it does about my opinions, Heckle’s, Jeckle’s, or anyone else’s. If you had read more carefully, you would have noticed that the shark-jumping event to which I referred – the “Political Human Sacrifice” that wasn’t – was intended to promote a cause on which I do agree with them.

And who says that talk show hosts have to be useful? What has Larry Elder done for us lately? Hugh Hewitt is OK (if you’re into his brand of conservatism, I’m not) but quite frankly it is the NPR of the right: cerebral and sedating. Some people like to be worked up when they drive, and find it a means to unwind. I happen to be one of them, and I listen to John and Ken unless I too worked up, in which case the non-commercial smoothness of NPR will act as a nice sedative.

I agree, give her an MRI and PET. What is thirty more days going to hurt? Remember, Scott Peterson is going to get an automatic 20 years of appeals, what’s thirty days?
And I concur that the useful idiots serve their purpose with the Immigration issue. One of these days they will expose Companies who routinely hire Illegals, and we will see what happens then.
And you can still get pertinant information from Free Republic, and even some decent dialogue if you pick your topics. It ain’t all bad.

Don't know about Iyer. You may be right about Hammesfahr, though. Is he the only doctor who examined Terri and doubts she's in PVS? Then again, if all he's asking for is a PET or MRI, why is there any resistance to that at all?

I missed most of their ranting. But I did hear the point about the doc who was the Nobel Prize nominee. I did a bit of searching on that when I got home, and while I don’t trust Media Matters, it seems like they may be right on that one. Your thoughts?

Of NorCal cities with Spanish-origin names that are supposed to be mispronounced, you left out Vallejo. Either that or it’s the only double-L in the Spanish language that is actually pronounced like an L.

But it could be worse. In Missouri, I believe, is a town named El Dorado — pronounced “el duh-ray-do.”

All I can say is: thank God for John & Ken. I disagree with them about Schiavo, and I don't care about celebrity trials, and I disagreed with their support for Hertzberg, but they've been very successful at pushing immigration-related matters to the fore. How successful? This successful: The White House is complaining about KFI's John & Ken. See this for the aftereffects. Also, PHS didn't get Dreier fired, but it certainly had an impact. He did worse than he'd done for 24 years. And, J&K admit they do things for ratings: they get high ratings because these issues are popular and people are fed up. Now that even FreeRepublic appears to be turning into BushBot Central, it's important to support those who are willing to do something about the problem with unrestricted immigration. So, criticize them all you want, but I'd suggest being very thankful they're doing this.

John and Ken, Rousers of Rabble. They’re a Howard Stern disciple, except that where he goes to sordid sex and steamy scatology, they go to the Cause of the Moment – making sure they’re on the side that will generate the most heated discussion.

That being what they’re there for – to deliver audiences to the advertisers.
