Not only is the DA's decision out-effing- rageous, it is, as you say, exquisitely stupid. As if a jury would ever convict an eight year old of lewd conduct even if his role was not as a victim of child molestation. The only 'logical' explanation is that this is a result of the "no male victims" attitude regarding sexual relations, but Utah wouldn't seem the place for such PC stupidity to erupt.
