Campaign Finance “Reform” for Dummies

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 12:26 pm

Here’s a reminder of what “Republican” John McCain, along with his partners in crime Russ Feingold, George “Whutz a Vee-Toe?” Bush and the Supreme “Court” have wrought. You probably already knew that McCain-Feingold sharply limits the amount of money politicians can raise to run for “elected” office in districts so horribly gerrymandered the incumbents have no chance of losing. What you may not have known is that there is no limit on the amount incumbents can raise to defeat the only initiative on the ballot right now that would do anything to change that. The Orange County Non-Dog Trainer has more.

souldn’t the quotes be around “Supreme” and not Court.

Nah, they definitely reign supreme. My beef with them is that they don’t always act like a court, and upholding First Amendment reform is a prime example of such failings.

The benevolent LALA Times account of that story said that the deciding judge said, well if the governor can raise unlimited funds, then everybody else should, too.

Do you (or anyone) know of sites that have maps of California districts? The more “unusual” shapes would be good to print out and pass around.

My problem in talking about it is that my main argument is “it’s rigged so the Democrats keep winning”, to which they reply, “Wonderful!!”.

    How’s this one?

xrlq O.K. I take it back about cutting back on the caffeine. I’m sorry. Come back and start posting again and I promise not to be so mean.

Dude, relax. I’m not that thin-skinned.
