Prop 22 Rewind
While Ass. Bill 849 supporters rewrite history about Prop 22, it’s worth taking a gander at the ballot argumments that circulated in the months leading up to the March 2000 primary, for, against, against-for and against-against, along with the summary by the Legislative Analyst. You’ll find a couple of isolated references in the pro- and anti-rebuttal arguments to the need for Prop 22 as a defensive measure against forced recognition of out of state gay marriages, but nary a hint of an intent to so limit the statute’s scope, and no such references at all by the anti-22 folk who now take it upon themselves to lecture the other 61% of us about what we all thought we were voting on at the time.
You’ll also find, much to my delight, that the principal argument against Prop 22 was co-written by a someone who not only “Krys Wulff” but is actually named that.
