Habemus Chiefjusticam
Or something like that. My Latin’s a bit rusty after no one having spoken it all those years.
Now the question turns to who President Bush will appoint to replace Justice O’Connor. Julie Meyers may be in need of a job, why not nominate her? She can’t do nearly as much damage on the court as she would with ICE.
UPDATE: Well, most of us habemus one, anyway. This offer not available in California, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey and New York. Results may vary in Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, Rhode Island and Washington.

Since she would give as good as she gets in Senate hearings, I would like to see Ann Coulter nominated. The prospect of seeing Ted Kennedy’s head explode (implode?) on live TV would be a bonus.

Give it to Hillary. It solves the 08 issue, and if she doesn’t act Justicely, then we can go ahead and impeach her too.

I’m disappointed in the Democratic party on this one. Roberts did a fine job during the hearings; he convinced me that he’s a thoughtful, intelligent man who is *not* an ideologue. Something closer to Lewis F. Powell than to Antonin Scalia … and I can see no reason not to confirm him.
