Lawdragon 500499
Anyone know what Lawdragon is? I’ve never heard of them, but I just got their list of top 500 lawyers together with the current edition of Corporate Legal Times, which appears to have been compiled sometime after John Roberts was named to replace Justice O’Connor but before Chief Justice Rehnnquist’s death. Harriet Miers made the list. Then-Supreme Court nominee John Roberts did, as well, along with all of his present colleagues except the one who was supposed to have retired by now. Also making the list were Janice Rogers Brown, both Ediths, Miguel Estrada and … shudder … Alberto Gonzales, all of whom presumably made the list in large part because of the expectation that one or more of them would be appointed to the bench in the near future.
On the flip side, Michael Luttig, Michael McConnell, Patricia Owen and Emilio Garza did not make the list, but then again, neither did Beldar, Spoons, Patterico, the Puppyblender or Xrlq, so take this survey for whatever it’s worth.

Am I on there? Am I? Huh, am I?
Oh.

They had temporary offices right across the hall from the firm I’m at now. I got to hear them make their pitch every day for a few weeks.

The question I have is what criteria are they using and who got to set the criteria? If you set the parameters right you can always get the answer you want. ;)

If your goal was to find someone with a ‘Renquist-like’ background, how many on the ‘top 500′ list meet the criteria?
Non-judge, practicing lawyer…

Looks like a pretty distinguished list to me. Seems they made some pretty good calls.

Heard this was not the usual “pay to play” site, but an actual objective publication and website. What a concept!!
