Thanks for not saying it but I will. "Read the date, idiot." (Not that I don't have an excuse for assuming this was a new post given the title and Xrlq's time off in recent days.)

you stupid american assholes believe you are the shit but I have news for you...you people are not worth shit!!!! All you want to do is criticize other people's dialect and way of life! Well at least we ain't out there killing one another just for the hell of it like some people do. You have the nerve to talk about our beach when you probably can't swim unless it is in a pool cause your water is brown as shit and I would never be caught dead putting my toenail in it. You people always want something for nothing with your cheap asses!! one more thing...our little airplanes have never ever crashed!!think about that! Not cause something is different makes it worse than the norm.

In any case, the Bahamas aren't far enough into the tropics for my liking. Hopefully, however, I'll be in Puerto Rico come March.

As to Mapquest, I find that it gives better directions, but its maps aren't nearly as good. When Mapquest zooms out to regional mode, as in our example, it doesn't even show major highways on the map. And I can't easily do the cool zoom in/out and drag around things (more useful than you'd think) on Mapquest.

Sorry to disappoint, but JetBlue doesn't service Richmond just yet, so unless you're willing to postpone your trip until early spring, you'll have to drive a full 865 miles to Washington/Dulles, instead. I know, that extra 32 mile stretch could be a deal-breaker.

However, every cloud does have a silver lining. Just as your drive to the airport is slightly worse than you thought, Mapquest is slightly better. Not only does it allow you to draw maps using three-letter airport codes, it also allows you to do so by the airports' common names. While looking up the distance for Dulles I was too lazy/ignorant/stupid/whatever to look up the abbreviation (IAD), but a query for "MEM" to "Washington Dulles" worked just as well.

You too can spend a couple of days there, for considerably less than it cost us.

Well, if you happen to live near one of the whopping fourteen airports they serve, you could. ;) The closest to me is Richmond, VA, and it's a paltry 833 miles away!

The only discount airline that serves Memphis is AirTran, and I think you can name at least a few reasons why I shouldn't try that...

(By the way, did you know that Google Maps will let you enter in two airport codes, e.g. "MEM to RIC" and it will give you the driving directions and distance from one to the other? Neither did I, until I just tried it...)

This reminded me (yet again tonight/this morning) that last year at this time, I was actually in West Palm Beach, which was a refreshing escape from the dreariness and depression that is oftentimes associated with this time of the year - for many of us, at least (despite what we're supposed to be feeling).

I hope that you and whoever you were with had a good time, and a Merry Christmas. Happy New Year!
