Tripleya in ’08?
Crank has a poll asking voters if they’d re-elect Bush in ’08 if the Constitution permitted it. The question reads as follows:
If George W. Bush was permitted by the Constitution to run again in 2008, would you support him in the primary?
- Yes, he’s still the best we’ve got
- No, three terms is too many for anyone
- No, there’s someone else running I like better
- No, the party needs to change directions
- No, I will not be supporting any Republican in 2008
- No, I think he’d lose if he ran again and I don’t want Hillary to be President
Notably absent from the list of possible answers:
No, if George W. Bush were permitted by the Constitution to run again in 2008, would you support him in the primary? Doesn’t anybody learn the friggin’ subjunctive anymore?

No, three terms is too many for anyone
Or, in Bush’s case (so it seems at least), one and a half terms is too many.

I know just what you mean. If I was going to write that sentence I would use the subjunctive correctly.
