Jumping the Other Guy’s Shark

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 7:26 pm

If Al Gore’s Internets are a shark, RedState just jumped it. I question the timing of such shark-jumping. After all, what better way to discredit the other side than to do something asstastically stupid on a web site called “Red State,” just in time for the parties to reverse colors? Brilliant move, that.

Obama the Presidential candidate is the love child of the adulterous union between the Chicago Tribune and Rebuplican hacks who leaked Jack Ryan’s lust for “Seven of Nine”. Otherwise, he would still be what he should be: A good law student who went into politics, doing exactly what Mayor Daley told him to do, because he was worthless as a lawyer.

I’m counting on Hillary to “Jack Ryan” him. Nobody can fight as dirty as the Clintons and still look good doing it.

    Say whaaa?

Jack Ryan was *married* to Jeri Ryan, hence her name, and reportedly made some very questionable moves during her marriage, so that she divorced him.

Or so I read in the totally reliable press.

Disgruntled losers from the Republican primary leaked some allegations from the Ryans’ divorce which had been sealed by the California divorce court. The Chicago Tribune and I believe one of the big three TV stations sued in California to have the court unseal the records. In a nutshell, Jeri alleged that while they were married he had taken her to a sex club in New York and asked her to have sex with him in front of others. He denied it in a counter-affidavit. There were no allegations of infidelity on his part although there may have been innuendo that Jeri was in love with someone else and that was the reason for the breakup of the marriage.

Tabloid stuff. Ryan had the choice of calling his son’s mother a perjurer or admitting to “unnatural lusts” for his own wife. He chose to say “Cuff it, it’s not worth it”.

I leave in a Chicago suburb and Obama has front-page encomiums in every other issue of the Tribune, lately. He’s their golden-haired home-town hero.

The “leave” is definitely a Freudian slip.

  5. Xrlq Says:

I hear you. I “leaved” in the Chicago ‘burbs myself for three years. Things were so outrageous there, that my subsequent move to the SF Bay Area came as a relief!

  6. Anwyn Says:

So … you’re against the Republicans who leaked stuff and the media that wanted to get the divorce records (I can get behind that) but also saying Jack Ryan should still be in politics? I don’t know about that one … I guess I’m still snippy about candidates being caught in stupid sexual peccadilloes or whatever that word is.

  7. Xrlq Says:

If the worst thing the guy did was ask his wife to do something kinky, yes. If he didn’t even do that - and for all we know, he didn’t - then why on earth not?

  8. nk Says:

I think Ryan’s choice to continue to be a multi-millionaire school-teacher, teaching ghetto kids, instead of a multi-millionaire U.S. Senator hustling lobbyists for an average of $11,000.00 a day in campaign contributions for his re-election was the right one. As was his choice neither to call his ex-wife a perjurer nor to admit to things which would embarass his eleven-year old son. And I think the California trial judge who acted as an appellate court on the divorce judge’s decision to seal the records, long after all deadlines for appeal and collateral attack had elapsed, should be fired.

BUT my point was that, if not for serendipity, Obama would be another Carol Moseley Braun wannabe.

  9. Anwyn Says:

Like I said, me being snippy. My sympathies, if the story was true, were with Jeri Ryan, but of course I’ve no way of knowing what the story really was, and sympathy with Jeri Ryan personally doesn’t preclude her husband running for office.

Anyway, on to the point: You’re saying, nk, that Obama is where he is because the Republicans trashed one of their own? Color me dense, but I’m not sure I can tie the threads together on that one.

  10. Xrlq Says:

If the Republicans hadn’t trashed Ryan he would have stayed in the race, and might well have won. If he had won that race, Barack Obama would not have.

  11. Anwyn Says:

Welp, that makes me very dense indeed. I remember the Ryan stuff but was moved to Oregon before the ‘04 election and couldn’t have cared less who was winning the Senate in Illinois. :)

  12. nk Says:

    That’s it.

  13. Anwyn Says:

Eah. I wasn’t as interested in politics back then and didn’t realize, when we started commenting here, that the Ryan stuff and Obama’s election were the same year. Silly me. :)
