Tonight’s Debate

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 10:51 pm

A few observations from tonight’s debate:

  • It’s official: Fred? is finally a Presidential candidate. He’s got my vote, and may even lose the obligatory question by the middle of his first term if he wins.
  • Who the hell got the brilliant idea to invite Rong Paul to the debate?
  • On the flip side, Why The Silence?® from his favorite spammer, Richard Viguerie, who just last week bashed FoxNews for not wanting to invite Mr. Constitution to the debate?
  • Speaking of idiots, how long will it take for Paul Slansky to write an op-ed in the L.A. Times bashing John McCain for falsely believing that Thomas Jefferson was a 20th Century Iraqi citizen murdered by Saddam Hussein?
  • On the flip side, why is no one taking McCain to task for his equally ludicrous claim that “comeback” is an adjective?

Are you being snarky or do you really think the candidate you don’t like shouldn’t be allowed to debate. Censorship?

You say the word “censorship” like it’s a bad thing. Every debate forum “censors” candidates known not to have a chance of winning. Ron Paul clearly falls into that category. I’d rather see a debate among those who might win, without the distraction of cranks who serve only to muddy the waters.

I’ve got to admit, Fred has worked his way into my heart by being just the sort of curmudgeonly presidential candidate that I would be. He also is the closest to me on issues, but mostly he refuses to dance for the press.

On the other hand, I strongly suspect that a curmudgeon like me could never win an election.
