Misleading Headline of the Day
Via Drudge, who offers an equally misleading headline, the Ass. Press announces that:
Obama Supports Individual Gun Rights
RTWT, and tell me how that squares with the last two paragraphs of the article:
At his news conference, he voiced support for the District of Columbia’s ban on handguns, which is scheduled to be heard by the Supreme Court next month.
“The notion that somehow local jurisdictions can’t initiate gun safety laws to deal with gang bangers and random shootings on the street isn’t born [sic] out by our Constitution,” Obama said.
O-kay.
UPDATE: Jan Crawford Greenburg takes a more charitable view of Obama’s statements. Patterico and Uncle, not so much.

Well, he’s right, technically - just not how he wants to be.
The problem is, the Constitutional “gun safety laws” in question (prohibition of ownership by felons, prohibition of using guns to commit crimes) already exist, and can’t stop gang members from being violent.
(If only Obama understood that the “gun safety laws” he wants, which are not Constitutional, also wouldn’t stop them.)

Obama could cook and eat a puppy on national television and the media would report that he’s a fervent advocate of animal rights.
Question: “Do you need anybody?”
The media: “I need somebody to love.”
Obama: “I get by with a little help from my friends.”

Since he seems to be stuck on supporting a number of laws that don’t work, perhaps they should just introduce a new law that makes it illegal for “gang bangers” to own guns.
I am sure they would line up in droves to turn in their weapons then.
Or not.

I think its great. Take out Hillary now - and the press loves him. But the field day will end soon, and when it does he will be hard pressed to defend his Bernie Sander’s like view of how the world should be run.

How would he be “hard pressed to defend his Bernie Sander’s like view of how the world should be run…”?
That viewpoint is the prevelant one within the MSM, and no politician is ever attacked for reflecting the conventional wisdom. Unless we, the great unwashed at our laptops, in our living rooms, and in our PJ’s, bring this point home time, after time, after time, this will disappear into the ether, and be forgotten.

It’s very simple: like the Communists saying that the Soviet Union was a workers’ paradise, all he has to do is say that he believes the Second Amendment refers to an individual right to keep and bear arms, and he hopes that the inattentive and the slow will be fooled.
What part of “shall not be infringed” is so difficult for people to understand?
