Jindal and Romney make some sense to vet at this point. Neither one is my top pick and I’m not so sure they’ll be most likely to help McCain but a careful vetting of the top candidates should address that.

But Christ? Why? He has been in office for only 2 years, Florida won’t be a crucial swing state this time around (Obama has an outside chance of winning, and if he does it will be part of a 350+ vote landslide), conservative activists seem to be extremely cool to him and he doesn’t have any pull with moderates either.

It can’t be Jindal.

1 – Jindal doesn’t have the experience–yet.

2 – Jindal is needed in LA; the voters there picked him to fix their mess. Leaving now would be a betrayal.

3 – Because Jindal lacks the qualifications, picking him would be seen as naked affirmative action.

4 – This would screw up Jindal’s ability to run for pres. in 2012 or ’16 or ’20.

Hasn’t limited it to 3 people, he’s looking at those 3 along with a number of others, they just happened to be interviewed this weekend so thats what the press reports
