UPDATE: Commenter Murdoc notes that my first analogy was terribly unfair - to polio.
UPDATE x2: Corrected the analogy to reflect that we only have a vaccine for polio, not a cure. If today’s polls are any indication, we don’t have either a cure or a vaccine for Carter.

Another thing about the “it took Carter to get us Reagan” theory is that Reagan made a great run of it in 76 and was poised to be a leader for the nomination in 80 Carter or no Carter.
Where is this guy that’s poised to raise America from Obama’s ashes? I sure don’t see anyone anywhere, let alone someone that might get elected.
