When science is inconvenient to the Democrats boy to they bash it. When Larry Summers pointed out science may provide evidence of innate differences between men and women was it Righties who drove him from his post?

When evidence comes out undermining man made global warming, who squelches it?

The Republican party puts it faith in thought and thinking. "Intellectuals" and "Intellectualism" are not very big on thought that does not go their way.

Is the Left or the Right slowing oil and gas production for specious reasons?

Is the Left or the Right attacking (often violently) animal testing scientists says they need?

Does the Left or the Right quash any scientific debate on DNA differences among races or even the two sexes?

Does the Left or the Right ignore all economic data on what allows and aids growth?

Does the Left or the Right despise military research and nuclear testing?

The Answers to the these questions discloses an anti-science Left!

Oh, and apart from near-constant bashing of modern science when its findings are politically (or, equally often, religiously) inconvenient, and incessant railing against the "educated elites," I suppose Palin's wing of the GOP isn't really all that anti-intellectual...

Both offenses should be career-enders, however, which was my point.

I'll agree with that much, but that isn't what you wrote. (And, of course, in an ideal world, neither incident should politically hurt anyone other than those directly involved.)

Err, did you just attempt to draw a moral equivalency between an extramarital affair and pedophilia?

No. Nor do I draw a moral equivalency between non-pedophiles sending dirty notes to 16-year-olds and getting gay with 18-year-old ex-pages, on the one hand, and married men bribing their mistresses with federal money, on the other. Both offenses should be career-enders, however, which was my point.

I'll take your bet on Palin '12, with the caveat that if McCain actually wins next week, or if he loses by 10 or more points (i.e., enough for the "Palin hurt McCain" meme to have any cred), all bets are off. As to Democrat pipe dreams of Republicans loving to hate intellectuals, I'm afraid you'll have to be the one to answer that. It's your pipe, and your dream.

Err, did you just attempt to draw a moral equivalency between an extramarital affair and pedophilia? I'm not for a moment defending the former, but saying that it should hurt "as least as much" as the latter seems to miss by about an order of magnitude.

Also:

I’m cautiously optimistic that Palin-Jindal will recapture the White House in 2012

I'll bet you a beer that Palin doesn't get the GOP nomination in 2012. And what's with the GOP's love affair with anti-intellectualism, anyway?
