Memo to Georgia: Four weeks ago you had the good sense not to elect Obama President. Now all you have to do is have the better sense not to give him a blank check.

    If a Republican ever lost in frickin Georgia, that would pretty much be the end of the GOP as we know it, I think…

    In that case, the GOP as we know it must have died when Max Cleland was elected in 1996. Or maybe long before that, as his predecessor technically wasn’t a Republican, either.

    OK, if a Republican ever lost to a liberal Democrat…

    And of course, in 1996, as now, there was a libertarian candidate screwing up the works for the GOP’s guy. Which reminds me, we really, really, really need to do away with plurality wins in more places than Georgia (though I tend to prefer IRV to a separate run-off…).
