More Proof that the Party Out of Power is Insane

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 10:45 pm

Just when it looked as though Allah had found the bottom, FoxNews reports that some dumbass from the Thomas More Law Center (but I repeat myself) is bringing a suit alleging that the federal government’s bailout of AIG is unconstitutional because one subsidiary of A.I.G., which is solvent and therefore not the subject of the bailout, anyway, offers homeowner insurance that is shariah-compliant. That’s right, according to this allegedly conservative group, this:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion

means this:

Congress shall provide no assistance of any kind to any private organization that doesn’t have anything to do with religion, but is owned by someone who also owns another private organization that also doesn’t promote an establishment of religion, but does sell products that don’t violate it, either.

Good Allah.

Eugene Volokh has a more sober take on this insanely stupid lawsuit.

UPDATE: Meanwhile, Liberty Counsel pushes an equally stupid lawsuit alleging a woman was illegally fired for refusing to wish patrons “Happy Holidays.” What is it with these people? Is there theory that the ACLU brings stupid, crazy liberal suits, so we need to balance things out by bringing equally stupid, equally crazy, allegedly conservative ones?
