Thinking About Baseball

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 8:02 pm

I’m having a hard time getting a hold of the reason why, but somehow I can’t see this:

without being reminded of this:

Any theories?

UPDATE: Apparently I’m not the first to notice the eerie similarity between these two local icons.

UPDATE x2: Nor even the second. Apparently, most people in Winston-Salem noticed this months before I did.

I don’t know, I look at that logo and think of the ol’ purple shaft with a bulging red vein.

    Phelps´s last blog post..Not Carter 2.0

    It’s just a shovel.

    You people have dirty minds.

What’s that substance underneath the “H” in “DASH”?

Usually graphic artists don’t put smegma into corporate logos.

  4. nk Says:

Was the graphic designer a woman or a man? The architect?

  5. Xrlq Says:

Daryl, what are you talking about? The pics are from our local baseball team and the local tower that was once the headquarters of Wachovia. What’s “dirty” about either? All those subprime loans they bought from Golden West?

  6. Xrlq Says:

NK, the Wachovia Centre was designed by César Pelli a conceited man from Argentina. The team logo was designed by Terry Smith, an equally conceited man, or so I’ve heard.

  7. Daryl Herbert Says:

There’s nothing dirty about the tower. It’s a stately building and only someone with a dirty mind would think it looks like an erect penis.

It may even remind you of an extremely Freudian baseball logo. But I wouldn’t hold that against the architect.

    You and me both!

Sometimes a logo is just a logo.
