People Who Should Be Disenfranchised

Filed under:   by Xrlq @ 10:04 pm

Anyone who wants to ban “junk guns” and “assault rifles,” and opposes “tax cuts for the rich,” but objects to Sarah Palin’s reference to “death panels.” Sauce, goose, gander, etc.

No, we can’t disenfranchise them for exercising their First Amendment free speech rights. What SHOULD be done is to lessen the impact of boneheads’ speech on the rest of society. How, you ask? Glad you asked.

By implementing the society in Robert Heinlein’s “Starship Trooper”, by making it a requirement that anyone that wants to vote or hold an elected office needs to serve an honorable term of service in the armed forces, military and non-military.

Hmmmm, on second thought, maybe that’s the same thing.

The Romans had thought that up about 2,500 years before Heinlein. Moreover, they had taxes, which went to support the military, solely on people of the equestrian and senatorial classes who could not serve in the military, such as women and 4-Fs, although as a general rule Roman citizens were not taxed.
